Easy Sew Toddler Skirt

Easy Sew Toddler Skirt
A few weeks ago I came across an Australian online fabric store, Funky Fabrix and immediately fell in love with their fabric collection. After selecting several fabrics that just screamed kids clothes, I realised I needed some patterns. I soon discovered that Funky Fabrix has an awesome collection of patterns. I purchased several and took a risk with a downloadable pattern, too.

The downloadable pattern I purchased is by Whimsy Couture and is called Skirt, Plain or Ruffled 6m - 12yrs PDF Pattern. It was so easy to follow, no pattern to print out as you just start with a basic rectangle, and I had it made and ready to wear in two hours.

The fabric is a Michael Miller and was purchased locally.

I also used my Sizzix Butterfly die and appliqued a matching fabric butterfly to a bought t-shirt.

Keeping the theme going I also made this gorgeous hair piece!

First I made a yoyo, then I made a self-cover button using the contrast fabric and because I am lazy :) after pulling the thread tight to make the yoyo I continued with the same thread to sew the button and the hair clip to the yoyo at the same time. Batabim bataboom, done!

A recent trip to the 'big smoke' resulted in a big spend up at Spotlight! Stay tuned for some more gorgeous outfits! Coming soon!

  1. You are so clever and creative. I like the idea of a skirt that doesn't even need you to print out the pattern. Your hairpiece is just so lovely too.

    1. Thank you, Ness :) I wasn't expecting for there not to be a pattern, but after reading the simple easy to follow instructions I thought 'Oh, obvious!'

    1. Look out for the sale fabrics. I picked up some nice summer short material for the boys and a gorgeous fabric for a wrap skirt for me. Every now and again they also have a discount code on the home page, don't miss that (I did on my last order, bummer!)

    1. I know! Having a girl has given me licence to create lots of girly stuff, that I would never have done if it was only the boys :)
