Rhythm of the Day

So, what happens between the morning rhythm and the afternoon rhythm. Well that's when we get to play!

After our morning rhythm I will load Strawberry and Ooffa into the pram and Chook and I will walk to a local park. There we will have morning tea.

After our walk Strawberry and Ooffa will have their morning nap. Chook and I will have Circle Time followed by a Story.

I will get the twins up and get Chook involved in some Creative Play before it is time to prepare lunch.

I am going to trial Chook on a shorter nap to see if this stops such an early riser!

After Chook's nap we will be able to have some one-on-one time. A great opportunity to paint, craft or engage in some 'planned' play. We will do this until the twins finish their nap and the afternoon rhythm begins.

I have deliberately left out times for these activities. I have mentioned previously that a schedule frightens me. I feel boxed in. I want our day together to flow. There are anchor points in our day, guided by time, but I see these activities in our day guided more by our movement from one space to another (walk to home; circle time mat to bedroom; bedroom to patio; patio to kitchen; you get the idea!).

  1. I feel the same way about schedules! That's why rhythm appeals to me so much - I love the gentle flow in and out - we try for a walk too, but don't always make it out. Must try harder on that one!

    1. When we do get out for the walk it is so rewarding, for all of us. Chook gets a little bit of cabin fever in the morning so the walk takes care of some of that energy!
